MomaKat Cat Rescue - Birmingham, AL

Welcome to the MomaKat Cat Rescue  blog. Our purpose is to share information about our rescue operation and to let you know about cats and kittens avaiable for adoption.  Thanks to everyone for your continued support!

We wanted to share a story about one of our special friends - GEM (Green Eyed Monster) is a beautiful female feral cat (spayed) that has been living in one of the colonies that we support for 17+ years.  To our knowledge she is one of the oldest feral cats in existence.  We inherited her care and feeding from a dental group that had been feeding her for about 14 years. Despite living her entire life outdoors she is in good health and other than a slight limp is the picture of health!  She regularly trots a 1/4 mile down to the location where we feed the colony every night.  Even though she is small (8-9 pounds) she is always the first one to claim a bowl.  Despite her size the other cats respect her and leave her alone to chow down.

Seeing her makes us feel so good inside - She is living proof that TNR and a little TLC really works...

If anyone has a story of an older feral cat - please share with us...
